Recent Snaps

Just some photos today. I am a little knackered, although our recent (and possibly final) family outing to Ikea went rather smoothly. We decided to move the lounge room and dining room around which meant getting a very long cable for the tv and moving the existing furniture blah blah. Then we had to figure out some window treatments, cue a rushed trip to the homewares store for me on Thanksgiving weekend! Not fun, but we're sitting at night with all our electronics at the front of the house now, so we needed to cover up.
We squeezed in a decent local brunch and I managed to rustle something up for dinner. Now it's time to watch a little tv before bed. I'm reading 'Game of Thrones', which is amazing and if you're not familiar with the HBO series you should look it up. I'm a bit of a fantasy nut so this is right up my alley, and the books are even better than the tv show.
Instead of a long weekend full of turkey and pumpkin pie, we'll be cohabiting with allen keys and nuts and bolts. It will be wonderful to put all the suitcases into the garage at last and really make this place feel like home. I even bought a load of baking trays so maybe some muffins make an appearance in the not-too-distant future.
Here are some pics from the last few days...

We live across the road from a school (not Poppet's school) and I just love the big yellow school buses.

Walmart is stocking these awesome blow-ups for Halloween. Poppet was frightened and we had to leave this aisle. Goodness knows what she'll make of the 'real' Halloween in Canada.

Look what we found at the end of the street!

Missing our fur babies. Lucky these two live at the local dress shop. They can frequently be seen visiting the book store as well...

This is what passes for coffee in most cafes. Good grief! I call it 'swill' and can't wait to get home to make a decent cup. There are some coffee houses on our strip which claim to make 'real' coffee, we haven't explored them yet.

Could we hurry up and make that dining table now please!

So, that's all for now. Tomorrow we'll fill the empty dining room and I'll start to carve out a workspace. Next weekend I'll be on the hunt for a new Bernina.
Can't wait for that!
