A Belated Glimpse of Our Very Long Weekend

So, Poppet had Friday off for a teachers' development day and Monday was a public holiday.
Lovely longest weekend! We relaxed, made pizza (recipe here), hung out with friends and brought a gorgeous kitty into our home for a few weeks while her family are away.
Some photos...

And I did quite a bit of stitching too...

I'll post some more product photos next time.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Ok. I'm just going to put this out there.
I think that Valentine's Day is utter rubbish. Mostly, that comes from over 10 years working in a card and gift shop and just dreading the madness that Valentine's Day brought with it. The confused desperation oozing from the (mostly) male customers as they trawled for last-minute gifts, the sore feet and permanent smile of retail. Not for me.
That being said, I am continually drawn towards imagery relating to it. I love our little Pinterest group board dedicated to this event, particularly enjoying how celebrations are seen through other peoples' eyes. Fascinating!
And who doesn't love hearts and chocolates and cuddles and lovely little notes anyway. I just prefer them to be more spontaneous...

Foxy loveliness from Heidi Van Veen Designs

I love Gemma Correll's work so much!

Crochet and pastels, sigh!

Interesting!

Nom nom nom!

All images can be found over at our Pinterest board here.
Oh, and I almost forgot about the little Valentine's Heart Tutorial I did waaa-aaay back. Take a look at it over here.

For those of you who celebrate Valentine's Day with reckless abandon - Good for you! Have a wonderful time doing whatever it is you like to do.
For those of you who don't, have a lovely day anyway. As Poppet is a bit excited about the day, we will start it with pancakes and strawberries, but otherwise it will be a normal day. I am, instead, looking forward to the lovely long weekend ahead of us during which we're going to hang out with some pals, drink some wine and just kick back for a while. Poppet has four days off to take it easy.

Coming Soon!

I've been busy pulling some ideas out of the dark recesses of my mind and making them a reality. What fun!
Coming very soon to my Etsy store, you'll see some long-legged girls, some bookmarks...

A few sweet embroidered hoops (featuring your child's name) and maybe some brooches too!

And then there's Easter. I'm currently cutting and stitching in the hope that I'll have lots of bunnies for you all. There will also be a new Wishing Bunny and maybe some felt eggs to boot!

Are you excited? I am, for sure.
Don't forget that if you want first notification of listings in my Etsy store you need to sign up for the newsletter. Leave me your name and email address in the comments below and I'll add you to the list.
There should be something new in store by the weekend, but in the meantime there are still a couple of Tooth Fairies available for little boys.

Snow Day Yay!

Well, it's snowing and snowing and snowing...
Husband can't get the car out of the garage, the roads are yet to be plowed and visibility is very poor so he's staying in. The thought of schlepping it to school in a blizzard has decided Poppet's fate.
So, it's a homeschooling kind of day. Just took some shots of our first load of shoveling, but we'll have to go out again when the snow stops this afternoon.

That's what I'm talking 'bout!

Weather Alert!

We're a bit excited. A big snowstorm is expected overnight.
If it actually happens we could end up with 20cm of snow and be stuck at home tomorrow.
Nothing wrong with that!

A Walk On The Ice

Tonight a friend and I went for a walk to the park at dusk.
After such freezing temperatures over the past weeks the pond has completely frozen over and we'd heard that local folk were skating on it. We wanted to grab some shots of the craziness. You got to give it to Canadians and their zest for the great outdoors. It was freezing cold and warning signs were everywhere.
There were people skating, playing 'shinny' (casual hockey) and ice fishing, even walking their dogs!
Oh, and my courageous Australian pal ventured out a little ways, temptation was just too strong...

Well, when in Rome...
