I am happy to be writing that my little business is a year old today. It's been a whirlwind year and a massive learning curve. I have made some wonderful friends, learnt lots of new skills and people have actually paid real money for something I have made. I am very proud of my product range and am extremely grateful for the many fabulous customers I have had so far.
As the business grows, expect to see lots of new little poppet friends and some new product ranges as well. I'm taking a break from custom work to really focus on the direction I want the business to go. There will be some little friends available from time to time on my Etsy shop and I will let you know on Facebook when that happens.
Speaking of new products, this might be the time to introduce you to the Pocket Poppets.
These characters fit into the palm of your hand and feature all the attention to detail you have come to expect from me.
So, what do you think? Would you like some of your own? Well, simply leave a comment at the bottom of this post before Friday 20th 8pm (WST) and these Pocket Poppets could be yours. I have one set to give away and I'll even include international fans.
Tell me what you think. What characters would you like to see in the future? I love feedback!
Thanks for a great year. I'd better go hide the Pocket Poppets before my kid gets home from ballet, she can't keep her greasy paws off them!
J

My kids have become quite protective of your little poppet phenomenom. "That's not a poppet mummy" My 3yo has been known to say whilst browsing anywhere from Perth's funky little boutiques to toy-r-us. And whenever we pass you by on the school run it's "THERE"S the POPPET LADY!" Sorry you no longer have a name. Congratulations on your birthday, Jen - looking forward to seeing what the next year brings from the workshop! Lisa, Lily, Milla and Finn Keogh lisagu3@iinet.net.au

ReplyDeleteAs for Pocket Poppets, PERFECT!! My little boy & girl adore their poppets. Josh loves to walk around cuddling his pirate, peeking under the poppet's patch to see his hidden eye - so cute.
As for ideas what about trying some "love heart" poppets, more tooth fairies, little chef poppets, a fairy poppet, elf & gnome poppets... I could go on all day!!

Congrats on making it to a year Jen! Must be fantastic to do what you love, and make a business out of that. You are one talented lady. The little poppets are a wonderful addition to your range. My DD3 said she'd like a Cinderella Poppet, maybe a fairty tale range - could just imagine a Little Red Riding Hood poppet, complete with gorgeous red hood. Although she liked the mermaid, saying it was just like Aerial - I have a princess fanatic at the moment!!!!

Congrats again Jen - you truly are fabulous xx
Happy Birthday Pikelet Workshop! Your poppets are just so lovely and I'm really loving the pocket poppets. My daughter would be carrying them around in her little treasure bags. Michelle has some great ideas there. I don't think I could add to them. :)

ReplyDeleteOh the little poppets are SO cute! Fantastic idea to take on an outing to help keep little ones amused (or for mum to hide in her handbag as a surprise when the littlies are getting restless).
I haven't read every single idea on here but those I did read sounded terrific. Hopefully I'm not repeating what someone else has said with my suggestions - nurse, fireman, policeman (people who help us theme).
Happy 1st b'day pikelet workshop :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of many many more to come

Love the poppets esp the mermaid as I have a little mermaid here at home who if sees this will demand one, think the pocket size is fantastic for travel. Your beautiful work has inspired me to get the machine out again and start making more pretty things for my girls, they love this hubby not so much although our local fabric shop has now given me a frequent shopper discount so not all bad.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday

Hi Jen, Congratulations on your first birthday. Riley was so impressed with the beautiful poppet you made for Aoife that I couldn't help but just smile and think how lucky your poppet is to be growing up around such beauty and creative talent. Then I read your lovely blog about your Dad and know that I don't need to tell you how special such a thing is :)
